    Dear Mr. Black
I spoke with you after a “First Tuesday Concert” a while back about a musician named Gary Hoffman, who was mentioned in one of the artist’s bios. We came to the conclusion that this was not the son of Samuel Hoffman, band director and thereminist back in the 50’s.
Regarding the theremin, you mentioned knowing of a musician who plays, and that you have encouraged him to use it in concert. I know the theremin is the most difficult instrument about which to master, but it gets little exposure and everyone is fascinated by it. I guess you could call it the “novelty factor.” I would certainly like to express to him my encouragement and enthusiasm for him to perform.

    Hi Jim!
Thanks for your note….it was great speaking to you at the Tuesday Concert! And another Theremin player….wow! OK so you need to speak with Scott Rawls, who is a Professor of Viola at UNCG. As luck would have it he is playing with us on April 1 (viola-not Theremin!) so if you come I am sure he would love to speak to you. But you can also reach him at his studio at: 336-334-3417. Good luck, and thanks for coming to hear our concerts!
    Regards,
    Alan Black
